Three wives, 2015 suicide: New revelations on father of Ghaziabad girls who died by suicide

The suicide of three minor sisters in Ghaziabad has taken a dark and complex turn as investigators look deeper into the family's history. The case, involving sisters aged 16, 14, and 12, has moved beyond a tragic story of digital addiction to reveal a background of suspicious deaths and unusual domestic arrangements.

The 2015 "Suspicious" Death

Investigators have uncovered that in 2015, the father, Chetan Kumar, was involved in another tragic incident. His live-in partner died after falling from the roof of a flat in Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad.

  • The Outcome: At the time, police dismissed the case and treated it as a suicide.

  • Current Focus: In light of the triple suicide of his daughters, authorities are re-examining the father’s past to see if there is a pattern or any underlying criminal element previously overlooked.

Complex Family Structure

The interrogation of Chetan Kumar has revealed a highly unconventional domestic setup. He currently lives with three wives, all of whom are biological sisters:

  • Sujata: The first wife and mother of the eldest daughter, Nishika (16).

  • Heena: The second wife (Sujata’s younger sister) and mother of Prachi (14) and Pakhi (12).

  • Tina: The third wife and mother of a younger child.

The father married the second sister 15 years ago after he and his first wife struggled to conceive. Police noted that the three sisters who died were emotionally closer to their father than their mothers, which is why their suicide note was addressed only to "Papa."

Financial Strain and the "Final Trigger"

While the father claims the girls were obsessed with "Korean culture" and "online games," police are also investigating a significant financial motive.

  • The Debt: Reports suggest Kumar, a stock trader, was under a debt of approximately ₹2 crore.

  • Selling the Phones: He recently sold the girls' mobile phones—allegedly to pay off an electricity bill or due to general financial distress—rather than solely to "break their addiction."

  • The Isolation: The girls had not attended school since the 2020 pandemic and lived in near-total isolation, creating an intense "inner world" centered around Korean dramas and music.

What’s Next?

Cybercrime teams are currently using IMEI numbers to trace the buyers of the sold mobile phones to retrieve data from the "Korean apps" the girls were using. Forensic reports on the nine-page diary and the girls' fingerprints are also awaited to confirm the sequence of events.
